SYKE has developed several tools and calculators together with the stakeholders. Some of the calculators have succeeded to reach ten thousands of users and to create large public discussions on environmental issues. For instance, the Baltic Sea Calculator has helped people to determine the impacts of their consumption habits on nutrient pollution and to raise at the same time the awareness of the connection between their habits and the state of the Baltic Sea.

SYKE has also given expertise to other social actors. For instance when HANSEL, the central purchasing body for central and local governments developed responsible procurements SYKE´s contribution to this work was important. As a result a Procurement Pulse was developed for estimating the carbon footprint of the procurements. This tool gives an useful and practical support to Finnish governmental organizations in reducing their emissions.

Please find below descriptions of some tools developed by SYKE.
