Project description
The aim of the project is to study the sustainability of biomass utilisation with the main focus on bioenergy applications.
The project consists of four work packages (WPs). WP1 produces information to support national implementation of and reporting on the European Union RES-directive.
In WP2 the aim is to produce quantified estimates on the sustainability of biofuels and the uncertainties related to this.
Indirect effects and their evaluation methods, monitoring and verification caused by the use of biomass are studied in the WP3.
The results are communicated and reported within WP4.
The project consortium includes researchers from SYKE, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (coordinator), MTT Agrifood Research Finland, Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) and Government Institute for Economic Research (VATT).
