Developing a spatially explicit modelling and evaluation framework for integrated carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation: Application in southern Finland
An intention to integrate the high biodiversity value forests and climate change mitigation resulted a pilot in central Finland. According to the results, there are sites that promote them both simultaneously. However, especially in the case of the carbon, many forest areas that are important in the means of climate change mitigation were less important in conserving biodiversity. The big difference between these two is that biodiversity is highly dependent on certain high value areas, whereas carbon storages and sequestration occur in various environments. By taking into consideration the synergy of these two, can land use planning be developed towards more sustainable use of natural resources help us to save resources.
