In order to increase its effectiveness and impact, Finland’s new development co-operation concentrates to the least developed countries. In the context of FinWaterWEI this shift of geographical focus constitutes a major change between the two Programme phases. FinWaterWEI II will have a much narrower geographical focus for its assistance; namely Central-Asia and there two countries in particular, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, instead of supporting the wide EECCA region (Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central-Asia).
